Police say the 2005 Jeep Cherokee was cutting across a grassy median from the inner lanes to the outer lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. when it jumped a curb and struck the pole.
Police say the force of the crash ejected 24-year-old driver Rosagna Galvez and 30-year-old passenger Jeifrey Chevez from the vehicle.
They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say it appeared Galvez was attempting to make a right turn onto nearby Adams Avenue.
