Germantown, TN : Two people injured after an SUV crashed into the West Clinic in Germantown on Thursday, November 6, 2014
Emergency crews took two people to the hospital after an SUV crashed into the West Clinic Comprehensive Breast Center in Germantown.
Hazmat crews were on the scene briefly after the SUV hit an x-ray machine. They were concerned that the machine could leak radioactive material. Crews quickly determined that was not the case.
Allene Stallings was on the second floor when the crash happened.
"We were all working and all of a sudden we heard this loud boom," she said. "Of course, we all run to the window ... and the next thing we saw was just white billowing smoke."
Witnesses say it appeared as though the driver accidentally hit the accelerator rather than the brake.
Two people were taken to the hospital, but witnesses say they were both alert and talking.
"It's just a blessing no one was injured," Stallings said.
The damaged area at the center was closed for the remainder of Thursday.
