A 77-year-old Harbor Springs woman died from injuries she sustained when the passenger car she was driving collided with a semi truck in Emmet County’s Bear Creek Township Tuesday.

In a news release issued late Tuesday, Michigan State Police officials identified the deceased woman as Mary Carraway.

The crash happened at about 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Mitchell and Boyer roads.

Carraway was driving a red Ford passenger car and was attempting to turn left off Boyer Road onto eastbound Mitchell Road when she traveled into the path of a semi truck driven by Kevin Spierling, 39, of Carp Lake.

The semi, owned by Spierling Trucking and Excavating of Pellston, was pulling an empty equipment-hauling trailer. Spierling was not injured in the crash.
