NORWALK, CT : School bus crashes into MTA overpass on Monday, January 16th 2017
A school bus carrying students crashed into a Strawberry Hill Avenue Metro North overpass near Fitch Street on Monday afternoon, said Sgt. Sofia Gulino of the Norwalk Police Department.
Authorities said the bus was traveling along the road when a portion of the bus struck the overpass just before 4 p.m.
No one was reported injured, Gulino said. Another bus arrived on the scene to pick up students and take them to their final destinations.
The bus was reportedly carrying students on their way to a high school sports game, but those details have not yet been confirmed.
It was unclear whether the students were from Norwalk or if the bus was traveling an atypical route.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials are continuing the investigation. They did not immediately return a request for comment.
