Houston, TX : Former KTRK reporter Wayne Dolcefino set for surgery after car accident on April, Tuesday 25th 2017

Former KTRK reporter Wayne Dolcefino was injured in a car accident Tuesday near San Angelo, according to a statement from his consulting company.
Dolcefino was scheduled for surgery Wednesday morning, according to a statement published on Facebook from his wife, Jennifer Dolcefino.
"I know we aren't out of the woods yet, but we are taking everything step by step," she said.The well-known former reporter for Channel 13 was traveling for his investigative consulting firm.
The crash fractured Dolcefino's pelvis and foot. He also sustained head injuries and a laceration on his left knee. His pelvis, foot and knee injuries required surgery, said his wife. He was able to talk Wednesday morning.
"His injuries were pretty bad, but not like they could have been," his wife wrote in the statement.
Dolcefino worked at Channel 13 for 26 years before departing in 2012. He was known for his hard-hitting investigative reporting, where he exposed countless scandals and political wrongdoing throughout the city. He now runs his own consulting firm, Dolcefino Consulting, which provides crisis management, ethics reviews, informational marketing and other services.
His wife also thanked on Wednesday the public for their support.
"Love you all!" she said in a statement. "Thank you for the prayers, texts, calls, emails, and offers to help!"
