Las Vegas, NV : Two people killed and another injured when cars collided at Las Vegas intersection on Saturday, January 9, 2016

Police say two people were killed and a third injured when two cars collided at a Las Vegas intersection.

Authorities say the collision happened Saturday around 10:40 p.m. at South Boulder Highway and East Desert Inn Road.

Witnesses say a Dodge Dart was making a left turn from a northbound lane of Boulder Highway when a Ford 500 traveling southbound struck it on the passenger side.

The 81-year-old female driver of the Dodge and an 83-year-old male passenger were pronounced dead at a hospital.

The driver of the Ford, 45-year-old Keith Prassas, of Bullhead City, Arizona, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police have not identified the two victims pending notification of next of kin.

The accident is still under investigation.

It's unclear if alcohol or speed were factors.
