MIDDLETOWN, CA :Bicyclist suffers head injury in collision on Wednesday, November, 29th 2017
A Middletown woman suffered severe head injuries when the bicycle she was riding collided with a vehicle late Wednesday afternoon.
Patricia Morris, 45, was flown by REACH helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with what first responders called “major head trauma.” There was no further word on her condition as of press time on Thursday.
According to California Highway Patrol reports, Morris was riding along Highway 29 near the intersection of St. Helena Creek Road in Middletown. She was on the shoulder, heading north.
Investigators say that at approximately 4:15 p.m., Morris reportedly turned left onto the highway. At that same time, a vehicle driven by a Hidden Valley Lake woman was heading north at a moderate speed, estimated at 40 to 45 miles per hour.
CHP officers speculate that Morris did not see the vehicle and turned into its path.
The collision knocked Morris off her bicycle. She landed on the front windshield of the car, suffering injuries.
No arrests were made and investigators did not mention drugs or alcohol as possible causes.
