Champaign, IL : One man injured in crash on Mattis Avenue Thursday afternoon, August 18, 2016
One person was taken to the hospital following a single vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon.
Champaign police Lt. Bruce Ramseyer said a landscaping truck pulling a trailer was headed north on Mattis Avenue when the truck’s steering went out.
The truck veered to the side of the road near William Street at 5:20 p.m. and hit a tree.
The driver, a 23-year-old Champaign man, was uninjured.
A passenger, a 32-year-old Champaign man, was removed from the truck and taken to an area hospital, where he received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Ramseyer said that no tickets had been issued as of Thursday evening.
The crash backed up traffic on Mattis Avenue for about a half hour.
