Hancock, MA : Two trapped for four hours after Hancock crash on Friday night November 7, 2014
Two area residents were trapped for more than four hours on Friday night after the pickup they were traveling in crashed on Route 20, according to Massachusetts State Police.
James Daigneault, 30, of Lee, and his passenger, Sara Rock, 31, of Stephentown, N.Y., were riding in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup just after 7 p.m. when Daigneault lost control and crashed just east of the New York state line, police said.
It took emergency responders about four hours to extricate Daigneault from the wreckage; Rock was freed about 20 minutes later.
Columbia County Sheriff's Office helicopters airlifted the victims to Albany Medical Center in New York, where they were listed in stable condition on Sunday.
Fire Departments from Hancock, Pittsfield and Richmond in Massachusetts and Lebanon Valley and Chatham in New York responded to the scene.
The cause of the accident is under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and State Police Crime Scene Services. New York State Police, the Pittsfield Police Department, and MassDOT also assisted at the scene.
