MURFREESBORO, TN : Traffic worker hit, killed on I-24 on April, Thursday 13th 2017

A worker with Superior Traffic Control was hit and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County Thursday night.

Eastbound traffic is slowed near mile marker 84 due to the crash. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the roadway is expected to be cleared by 10 p.m.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash is under investigation. Its reconstruction team was still on the scene late Thursday night working to determine exactly what happened.

THP is asking drivers to be vigilant and look out for highway workers while on the roads.

THP said more information on this crash is expected to be released on Friday.
