Allentown, PA : Woman killed in fiery I-80 crash near N.J.-Pa. border on Monday night, April 3, 2017

A 20-year-old woman was killed Monday night on Interstate 80 in Warren County when she was thrown from a car that hit another car before it flipped into several trees and burst into flames, authorities said.

Peiran Shi of Ithaca, N.Y., was a back-seat passenger in a car that collided about 9:55 p.m. in Knowlton Township, across the Delaware River from Upper Mount Bethel Township, New Jersey State Police said.

Shi was flown to St. Luke's University Hospital-Fountain Hill, where she was pronounced dead 11:45 p.m. by the Lehigh County coroner's office.

Police said Shi was in a westbound car at I-80 mile marker 6.2 when the vehicle collided with another car and flipped over a guardrail into the trees.

She was tossed from the car, resulting in multiple blunt-force injuries, the coroner's office said, but the car driver and another passenger were not seriously hurt. The driver of the other car was not injured, police said.

The coroner's office ruled Shi's death an accident.
