Port Townsend, WA : Man injured after a Two-vehicle wreck on Mt. Walker on Tuesday, November 1, 2016

A man was hospitalized Nov. 1 after after his vehicle was struck by a pickup that crossed the centerline on U.S. Highway 101 on the south side of Mount Walker.

According to the Washington State Patrol, at 5:35 p.m., Nov. 1 Jacob A. Soule, 44 of Port Townsend was driving a silver 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup northbound on Highway 101.

Woodrow L. Chandler, 31 of Onalaska, Washington, was driving southbound in a white 2006 Ford E450 box truck.

The northbound Toyota pickup entered a curve at a speed too fast for conditions, crossed the centerline and struck the Ford box truck, according to the state patrol. The accident occurred at milepost 300 near Buckhorn Road, six miles north of Brinnon.

Chandler was injured and transported by aid to Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Townsend. A passenger in the box truck, James B. Hiatt, 27, of Centralia, was not injured.

The roadway was blocked for about three hours.

Both drivers and passenger were wearing seatbelts and no drugs or alcohol was involved, according to WSP. Both vehicles were totaled and impounded by All City Towing.

According to the state patrol, the accident's cause was Soule driving over the centerline and the citation is for driving

Cause of the wreck was Soule driving too fast for conditions and going across the centerline, and citation issued was for driving too fast for conditions.
