Federal Way, WA : Woman struck, killed by car in Federal Way street Friday morning on September 26, 2014

A woman in her 50s was struck and killed by a car as she crossed a Federal Way street Friday morning, police said. The crash happened at 6:30 a.m. along a very dark and rainy 21st Ave. SW between S. 320th and S. 325th Streets, said Cathy Schrock with Federal Way police. "The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was struck right before she reached the curb on the east side," Schrock said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-year-old driver remained at the scene and the police investigation is ongoing, officials said. "The driver has been completely cooperative; there is no criminal aspect to this investigation at this point," Schrock said. "It's just a sad tragedy." The roadway is expected to be closed near the crash site for much of Friday morning. The victim's identity has not been released.
