Terre Haute, IN : City police detective injured in wreck on Tuesday, December, 5th 2017
A Terre Haute Police Department detective was treated for non life-threatening injuries after a traffic accident this morning at Cherry and Third streets.
Terre Haute police are investigating the accident, which happened at around 10:12 a.m.
According to multiple witnesses, a vehicle traveling north on Third Street failed to stop at the red light at Cherry Street, resulting in the vehicle striking the detective's department-issued car.
The detective's name is not being released until the investigation is complete, said Ryan Adamson, THPD public information officer.
The detective was traveling west on Cherry, and when his police vehicle was struck, it spun into a nearby semi. The detective was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries reported in the crash.
The detective was on duty at the time of the accident.
It was not immediately known if the police vehicle was totaled.
