Phoenix, AZ : 1 dead, 1 hurt after head-on collision near Broadway Road and 19th Avenue on Wednesday, 26th February, 2020

One man died and another was injured in a two-car collision early Wednesday Win Phoenix.

The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. near Broadway Road and 19th Avenue, according to a Phoenix police news release.

A blue Nissan Rogue was heading south on 19th Avenue when it crossed lanes into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a minivan driving north, according to police.

The driver of the Nissan died after the crash, but police say the minivan driver is expected to survive his injuries.

Nineteenth Avenue is closed in both directions between Broadway and Lower Buckeye Roads, according to the Maricopa County Department of Transportation.

Traffic near the intersection will be affected throughout the morning, and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes of travel, police said.
