A Baltimore County man has died after being struck by a vehicle, prompting the shut-down of York Road in Cockeysville for more than four hours Thursday morning.
Baltimore County emergency officials said the crash shut down traffic in both directions at Industry Lane around 6:47 a.m. Thursday. The road was reopened around 11:15 a.m., officials said.
The man, Behrooze Yazdanian, 67, of the unit block of Quiet Stream Court in Lutherville-Timonium, was crossing York Road from east to west when he was struck by a Ford Escape traveling north, police said.
The man was pronouned dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, police said.
The road was closed between Industry Lane and Warren Road, and police encouraged motorists to seek alternate routes.
The county's crash team is investigating, police said.
