Three people were killed on US 60 in the Forepaugh area at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13. According to Arizona Department of Public Safety Sgt. Davis Coughanour, a U-Haul truck was westbound when it crossed the center line and hit an SUV occupied by Robert and Karen Testa of Norwalk, Conn.
DPS, Wickenburg police and fire, and Aguila fire departments responded. When the emergency workers arrived, the U-Haul was fully engulfed in flames. According to Wickenburg Fire Chief Ed Temerowski, the truck caught fire in the engine compartment on impact. Rescuers were unable to reach the driver due to the condition of the vehicle and the fire. The driver of the U-Haul and the Testas were all pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicles. The collision ignited a ¼ acre grass fire alongside the road, which was extinguished by Aguila firefighters, Temerowski said. The name of the U-Haul driver has not been released, pending positive identification. The highway was closed for about eight hours
