Newton, UT : Man nearly severs foot in motorcycle crash on State Road 23 near Newton on Saturday, March 21, 2015
A motorcyclist suffered a nearly severed foot and severe head injuries in an accident Saturday on State Road 23 near Newton.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m. as Jeremy Jones of Tremonton was riding his Yamaha road bike south on the highway.
Utah State Trooper Phil Rawlinson said the bike left the road and struck both a tree and a fence. It was unknown why Jones lost control, but Rawlinson said other motorists reported the bike passed them earlier at a high rate of speed.
Paramedics at the scene reported the victim’s foot was almost completely severed by the crash. He was taken by ambulance to Cache Valley Hospital as a “Trauma 1” patient, then transported by helicopter to Ogden Regional Hospital.
