Woman dies in motorcycle crash in Maryland
One woman is dead following a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Creasy Lane and State Road 38 in Lafayette.The wreck happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday. The motorcycle was driven by Dennis Griede of Demotte. His wife Sherri Griede was a passenger on the bike. Both Dennis and Sherri were ejected as a result of the accident.According to the Lafayette Police Department, the motorcycle was traveling south in the center lane on Creasy Lane and wiped out after a truck attempted to turn left from the opposite direction.Officer Mark Roberts said the driver of a pickup truck pulled out in front of the motorcycle thinking the rider was turning left. The pickup truck driver, 18-year-old Abigail Wilson of Crawfordsville, was not injured.Roberts said both riders were taken to Franciscan Saint Elizabeth East Hospital.Lafayette Police Traffic Technician Matt Devine confirmed that Sherri Griede died as a result of her injuries from the crash. Officers believe neither person on the bike was wearing a helmet.Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
