Palm Coast, FL : 85-year-old man and 76-year-old woman died in a crash on Interstate 95 in central Florida on Tuesday night, January 26, 2016

The Florida Highway Patrol says two people from Brooklyn, New York, died in a crash on Interstate 95.

Troopers say a Ford Escort driven by 85-year-old Luigi Camporeale was on the shoulder of I-95 near Palm Coast on Tuesday night when "for unknown reasons" the vehicle made a left turn into the path of a tractor-trailer that was traveling in the center lane.

The truck struck the car's driver's side before both vehicles finally stopped in the median.

Camporeale and 76-year-old Filomena Camporeale were declared dead at the scene.

The 50-year-old truck driver Elias Saaverdra of Louisville, Kentucky, wasn't injured.
