St. Clair County, IL : Female killed in a three-vehicle crash in St. Clair County on Monday afternoon, September 1, 2014

A female was killed in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in St. Clair County. The incident happened at about 4:10 p.m. near the intersection of Interstate 255 at 64. According to the Illinois State Police, a red SUV was going north on 255 from 64 and as it merged onto 255, it sideswiped a green pickup truck. That caused the truck to lose control, go through the median, and into the southbound lanes of 255. The truck then hit a southbound passenger car head-on. The passenger in the car, a female, was killed. The driver of the car, a male, was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck had minor injuries and the SUV driver had no injuries, state police said. No information about the ages or identities of those involved was immediately available.
