Gaston County, NC : Mother of 3 killed in Gaston Co. crash on Saturday night, April 4, 2015

Investigators with the North Carolina Highway Patrol say it's likely 17-year-old Gregory Alan Suggs, Jr will be charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle in the head-on crash that killed a Belmont mother Saturday night.

Donna Garrett,32, was driving on Southpoint Road with three children in the car, ages two, nine and 12. The nine-year-old has the most serious injuries but has been upgraded from critical condition said Trooper Brian Huffstickler. The other two girls were treated and released from the hospital.

Garrett died at the scene.

Huffstickler says Suggs reported that he fell asleep at the wheel after dropping his girlfriend off at her house. He was driving home around 11:30 p.m. when the crash happened.

As standard procedure in a deadly accident, Suggs' phone will also be searched to make sure he was not texting by driving.

Huffsticker says Suggs was going about 50 miles per hour and Garrett was going close to 40 miles per hour at the time of the wreck. There is no evidence of braking or skid marks by either driver.

On social media, condolences are streaming into the Garrett family. She was engaged to be married to her longtime boyfriend. They share two children together.

Suggs' family is also asking that friends and family pray for the Garrett family and what they have lost.
