Forest Grove, OR : Man was cited after a rollover crash that injured himself and two other people on Monday afternoon August 25th 2014
A Hillsboro man was cited after a rollover crash that injured himself and two other people near Forest Grove on Monday, authorities say.
The crash was reported about 1:25 p.m., near Northwest Beal Road and Oregon 47 and emergency responders soon found the car upside-down with no one around, said Forest Grove Fire & Rescue Division Chief Dave Nemeyer. It initially appeared that there was someone still trapped in the car, but it was actually a pair of pants wrapped around one of the seats, according to Nemeyer.
"The roof had been crushed down to below the seats," he said. "It was as ugly of a rollover crash as I've ever seen."
Authorities later learned that Lonny Hernandez, Jr., 33, was likely speeding east on a gravel road along Northwest Beal Road when he lost control of his 1997 Pontiac Firebird and rolled over three times, said Sgt. Bob Ray, a Washington County Sheriff's spokesman. Two women and a 12-year-old boy were also in the car when the crash occurred.
A passer-by drove Hernandez and one of the women to Tuality Forest Grove Hospital because they appeared to be the most severely injured, Ray said. The other woman and boy left the scene, but the woman was later transferred to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. Hernandez and the other woman were transferred to a Portland hospital for more treatment, according to Ray.
The boy was not injured, Ray said. The conditions of the injured people as well as the identities of the two women and the boy have not been released.
Hernandez was cited for driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. Other charges are being considered, Ray said. The crash is still under investigation.
