A 31-year-old woman was identified as the driver who died Thursday in a car crash on Interstate 71.
Monique Jefferson of Cleveland died in the crash in the northbound lanes near West 150th Street, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.
The crash shutdown the stretch of the highway from 3:30 until about 7 p.m.
Jefferson was driving a 2003 Buick Renezvous SUV when she rear-ended a 2010 Honda Odyssey minivan that had stopped for a prior crash on the highway.
Jefferson lost control of her car after the collision. Her SUV flipped over and she was thrown from the car on to the road, police said. The SUV landed on its wheels and rolled across the four lanes of the highway until hit hit the concrete median.
The crash came less than two hours from the deadly traffic incident that killed Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper Kenneth Velez. Velez was hit by a car about 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 90 near the Cleveland-Lakewood border on McKinley Avenue.
