Aiken County, SC : One killed in Aiken County crash on Wednesday, 26th September 2018

The Aiken Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a suspicious death in Aiken County

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a body found early Thursday has been identified as Natasha Brown, 45, of Williston, S.C. Carlton said Brown was found in a 2016 Kia near the intersection of South Dixie and Miller Pond roads by a utility worker doing repair work at around 3:43 a.m.

The car was approximately 50 to 75 yards off the road and was hidden by vegetation and trees, Carlton stated in an email.

Brown was reported missing to law enforcement in Greenwood County, S.C. on Aug. 8, after not returning to a family member’s home from whom she borrowed the vehicle on Aug. 3, according to Carlton.

According to the highway patrol, Brown was traveling north on South Dixie Road and went off the right side of the roadway striking several trees before going down into the swamp. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the highway patrol, and the date of the accident remains unknown.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday in Newberry, S.C. The cause and manner of death have not been determine.
