VALMY, NV :Mother, child dead in I-80 crash in Northern Nevada on Tuesday , June 23rd 2015

A mother and her elementary school-age son died Tuesday in a pickup truck crash along westbound Interstate 80 between Winnemucca and Battle Mountain, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.The two were backseat passengers in a Ford F-150 that went off the interstate and eventually rolled about 8:30 a.m., throwing the boy from the pickup, Trooper Jim Stewart said. The mother later died at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Stewart said.The extent of any injuries to the driver and a front-seat passenger were not immediately known, Stewart said.No names were released, pending notification of family.It’s unclear why the pickup truck went off the roadway, leading the driver to overcorrect prior to the pickup rolling over, Stewart said.The crash remains under investigation.
