State police say two men have died and four other people were injured in a four-vehicle accident that shut down the Thruway's westbound lanes in central New York for more than seven hours.
Troopers say the driver of a pickup truck veered onto the right shoulder and hit a disabled vehicle and a tow truck around 10:25 Wednesday between exits 32 and 33 in the Oneida County town of Verona, 25 miles east of Syracuse. The pickup truck traveled back into traffic and hit a third vehicle.
Police say two men in the disabled vehicle — 33-year-old Carlton McRae of Newport News, Virginia, and 34-year-old Mark Murray of Syracuse — were killed. A third man, from Syracuse, suffered serious injuries.
Two men in the pickup truck and the driver of the last vehicle hit also were injured.
Interstate 90's westbound lanes didn't reopen until 6 a.m. Thursday.
