Morristown, TN : Multiple crashes reported on April, Sunday 23rd 2017
One man faces charges following an 11 a.m. collision on North Highway 321 in Cocke County.
Lt. Richard Garrison of the Tennessee Highway Patrol said Randall Allen Holt, 57, Parrottsville attempted a left turn onto West Drive. His 2005 Nissan pulled into the path of a southbound 2016 Ford operated by Gloria Thacker, 71, Newport. Thacker was transported to the Newport Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Holt was given a field sobriety test which he “performed unsatisfactorily,” according to the trooper.
He consented to a blood draw and then was jailed on charges of DUI, simple possession, introduction of drugs into the jail and violation of the due care, open container, address, registration and insurance violations.
A Newport woman was injured Thursday evening when her auto went out of control off Cosby Road at 9:20 p.m.
Maxine Taylor, 72, Ninth Street, Newport, told Newport Patrol Officer Chris Silvers that her 2005 Cadillac sped up and she was unable to stop it in the shopping center adjacent to Wendy’s. The vehicle struck the curb, crashed through a wooden fence and then went up the embankment adjacent to the AT&T store.
Jefferson County EMS took Taylor to the Newport Medical Center.
