ATLANTA, GA : Atlanta Police officer injured in crash on citys southwest side on Sunday, 10th March 2024

A police officer was treated at the hospital overnight following a crash in southwest Atlanta. Police say an SUV ran a stop sign and crashed into a police cruiser.

The crash happened along Lakewood Avenue SW at the intersection of Pecan Drive just before midnight Sunday. The front end of the police cruiser was badly smashed, with the driver’s side front sustaining the brunt of the damage.

The police officer involved in the crash was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is expected to be okay.

Atlanta Police say there were three people inside the other vehicle. Police said the driver of the SUV ran from the crash scene. Police said that the suspect remains wanted. A description of the suspect has not been released.
