Town of Ulster, NY : 50-year-old Shokan man injured after car-motorcycle crash in town of Ulster on Monday afternoon, May 30, 2016

A 50-year-old Shokan man was injured Monday afternoon when a car collided with his motorcycle on state Route 28, Ulster town police said.

Police said the motorcyclist, Robert Gottardello was eastbound in the right-hand lane of Route 28 on a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle at 3:09 p.m. Monday when Jean M. Tierney, 51, of West Hurley, who was driving a 2011 Jeep in the other eastbound lane, changed lanes as the driver in front of her made a left turn into the Speedway gas station. Tierney’s vehicle collided with Gottardello’s motorcycle.

Gottardello complained of chest pain and was treated by medical personnel from the Ulster Hose Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Ambulance. He was later taken by ambulance to the state police barracks on U.S. Route 209, where he was airlifted by Lifenet helicopter to Albany Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. His condition was not immediately available.

Neither Tierney nor her two passengers was injured.

An investigation was continuing and no tickets had been issued as of Monday evening.

The Ulster Police Department was assisted at the crash scene by the Ulster Hose Fire Department, Mobile Life Support Ambulance, the New York State Police, and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
