New Orleans,LA : Man killed, another critically hurt in wrong way crash on August, Sunday 20th 2017

Authorities say a man who had been driving in the wrong direction on a New Orleans expressway was killed in a head-on crash.

The Times-Picayune reports the collision closed the eastbound Pontchartrain Expressway for several hours Sunday morning. One man was killed and another was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

New Orleans police say a call was received about a man driving a brown 2015 Honda Civic in the wrong direction. It collided with a red 2000 Ford Explorer shortly before 5:30 a.m.

The Orleans Parish coroner’s office has not yet released the name of the man who was killed driving the Civic. Toxicology tests are pending.

The Expressway was reopened to traffic shortly before 9 a.m.
