METAMORA, OH : Fatal crash that occurred early this morning on May, Wednesday 10th 2017

The Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this morning south of here.

According to troopers, at approximately 3 a.m., a small passenger vehicle was southbound on Fulton County Road 1, failed to stop at U.S. 20 and collided with a semi tractor with a flatbed trailer hauling steel coils. Both vehicles reportedly traveled off the southeast side of the roadway. The vehicles struck an electrical pole before becoming engulfed in flames.

The driver of the passenger vehicle reportedly died at the scene. The semi driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and names are being withheld pending identification.

Assisting at the scene were the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Amboy Township Fire Department and Richfield Township Fire Department.
