Oklahoma City, OK : Car thief crashes, gets punched by pizza guy on Friday, 12th August, 2016

In the pizza delivery business, Mohammed Odetalla says, you can't let a lot of things scare you. So when he saw someone else driving off with his car, he says it was basic instinct that kicked in.

"I just reached through the window and started punching him," he said.

It happened last Friday, around 3:45 in the afternoon. Odetalla says he was making a delivery to the Meadowbrook Apartments near Northwest 36th and Meridian. When he drove up to the complex, he says he noticed a couple of young men hanging out on the steps, but didn't think anything of it.

Leaving his keys in the car, he went up and knocked on the door.

"Next thing I know, I hear my car door open and shut so I dart down the stairs," he said.




It was one of the guys that had been sitting on the steps. He believes they called for a pizza, just to set him up.

He says they picked the wrong man to mess with. As one suspect was trying to drive away, Odetalla says he managed to get a few punches in and yank him out of the car. He says the suspect couldn't figure out how to put the car in gear and crashed over the curb.

"I'm not just going to stand around and let somebody take something I worked hard for," he said.

He says he was wailing on the suspect and asking witnesses to call 911, but nobody would.

"As I pulled out my phone to call, he got away."

Odetalla believes the other man was part of the operation. The only thing he remembers about the two is that they were both slender African American men, somewhere between 17 and 22 years old. And he remembers the fighting style.

"I don't want to sound bad, but like a girl in a cat fight. He was just trying to scratch," he said.

Six days later, he has the scratch marks to prove it.

"Not a lot of things scare me. It was instinct - quick reactions."

The two men are still on the loose, but at least Odetalla has his car. There's some minor damage, but he says his boss has agreed to pitch in for the repair cost.

He says, it's a lesson learned.

"I'll always keep my keys in my pocket and lock my doors," he laughed.
