Tampa, FL : Man died in crash with fire truck on U.S. 301 in Hillsborough County on Tuesday, Oct 20, 2015

Authorities say a man is dead following a crash with a Tampa Bay area fire truck.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue truck was responding to a vehicle crash Tuesday with its emergency lights on when a car in the oncoming lane veered into the truck's path. After the collision, the car left the roadway and came to a rest on the shoulder.

The car's driver died at the scene. His name wasn't immediately released. None of the firefighters on the truck reported injuries.

FHP reports that a section of U.S. 301 was closed in both directions for several hours after the crash.
