MASON, IL : Two drivers were airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana following a crash on Thursday, July 20, 2017

Two drivers were airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana following a crash one mile north of Mason on Illinois 37, the Illinois State Police said.

Kent A. Keppler, 51, of Farina, was cited for improper lane usage after police said he drifted into the northbound lane from the southbound lane.

Bryan K. Jones, 31, of Effingham, was traveling in the northbound lane and attempted to avoid Keppler by swerving into the southbound lane, according to a witness, police said. Keppler then swerved back into the southbound lane and hit Jones head on, police said.

Keppler was airlifted from the crash site to Carle. Jones was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham and later airlifted to Carle.
