Ada Township, MI : 93-year-old man dead and 91-year-old wife injured after a traffic crash near Grand Rapids on Monday, May 11, 2015

Authorities say a 93-year-old man is dead and his 91-year-old wife is in critical condition after a traffic crash in western Michigan.

The Kent County sheriff's department an 18-year-old man lost control of the pickup truck he was driving Monday in Ada Township, near Grand Rapids, and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.

The truck collided with another pickup driven by Rex Baird of Grand Rapids. The sheriff's department says Baird died at the scene and his wife Frances was hospitalized.

The department says the 18-year-old was taken to a hospital with what were described as minor injuries. The crash is under investigation.
