Lowell, VT : Police investigate two-car crash in Lowell on 11th August, 2016
Vermont State Police investigators are piecing together what led to a two-car crash in Lowell.
Police say a couple from Maine was driving on Route 100 when it happened. They say a woman was driving and fell asleep and went off the road and hit a parked car in a driveway, and then went over an embankment and into a river."I came in and I saw my car and I was like, 'what the heck happened here?' Then I saw there was a pretty deep gauge in my yard, they must have gone just through those trees and barely missed the propane tank," said Christine Slater, whose car was hit.
"There's studies that have said that driving with a lack of sleep is the same as driving while intoxicated," said Trooper Calvin Burns, Vermont State Police. Both the driver and passenger were injured and taken to the hospital.
There is no word on the extent of their injuries.
