Topeka,KS : One killed, one injured in head-on crash in southwest Kansas on September, Monday 11th 2017
One person was killed and another person was injured Monday morning in a head-on crash in southwest Kansas, authorities said.
The collision was reported at 7:40 a.m. Monday on US-56 highway, about a half-mile west of K-23 highway in Gray County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash occurred when a 2006 Dodge pickup truck eastbound on US-56 entered the westbound lane of traffic, where it collided head-on with a 2017 Kenworth truck.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, Zachariah E. Hammond, 21, of Montezuma, was taken to Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, where he was pronounced dead. The patrol said Hammond wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Kenworth truck, Robert L. Hoskinson, 53, of Cimarron, was reported injured and also was taken to Western Plains Medical Complex. The patrol said Hoskinson wasn’t wearing a seat belt
