Springfield, MO : Motorcyclist dies following crash near Springfield on Saturday afternoon, July 2, 2016

Troopers say a motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash just west of the Springfield city limits.

Brett L. Lewis, 42, of Springfield, died after his motorcycle went off the roadway and hit a utility pole near West Bypass and Farm Road 142, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The report says the crash occurred at 1:20 p.m. Lewis was transported to Mercy Hospital and pronounced dead about an hour later.
