Scranton, PA : Four people injured after a two-car crash in Covington Twp. early Friday, May 13, 2016
A two-car crash in Covington Twp. early Friday left four people injured after an SUV collided with a sedan and rolled onto its side.
The wreck happened just after 1 a.m. at Drinker Pike and First Avenue. The victims — Russell Lang, 21, of Covington Twp.; Marcel Geslicki, 28, of Tobyhanna; Amaris Rios, 27, address unknown; and Michael Yzkanin, 23, address unknown — were all listed in good condition at Geisinger Community Medical Center as of Friday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Bystanders tipped the SUV back on its wheels by the time crews with Covington Independent Fire Company arrived, a move Fire Chief Brad Jones said was a very bad idea because it jostled the injured male driver trapped inside. Firefighters had to cut him out of the vehicle.
State police could not provide information on who was in which vehicle. The driver of the sedan suffered only minor injuries, while his passenger was thrown from the vehicle and injured more seriously.
State police are investigating the cause of the crash.
