NEW HAVEN, CT : 2 killed in wrong-way crash on Route 15 in New Haven on Monday, February 6th 2017
Two people from New York were killed early Monday after their vehicles crashed head-on along Route 15 in New Haven.
Andrea L. Rossi, 53, of Long Island City, New York, and Erica L. Farland, 27, of Ossining, New York, were rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital after the crash, which happened at about 1:10 a.m. near Exit 59, state police said later Monday in a press release. Both later died from their injuries.
Police said Rossi was southbound on Route 15 in a 2016 Audi A6 when the accident happened about one-half mile south of Exit 59.
Farland was northbound in a 2015 Subaru Legacy but police said she was driving in the leftmost southbound lane when her vehicle collided with Rossi’s.
The crash shut down the southbound side of Route 15 between Exits 59 and 58 for more than four hours, according to the state Department of Transportation. The highway reopened at about 5:30 a.m.
Both women were wearing seatbelts, police said.
