Three people are dead and three people are injured after an alleged wrong-way driver caused a serious crash on I-17 southbound, closing the freeway near Sunset Point Rest Area, according to DPS Ofc. Carrick Cook.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says drivers should expect an extended closure and to delay traveling on I-17 southbound.
Alternate routes: State Route 89 from Prescott or SR 87 from Payson.
There is no estimated time to reopen southbound lanes. Northbound I-17 remains open.
