Las Vegas ,NV : Driver Killed and Pedestrian injured in Crash after Vehicle Hits pole near West Lake Mead and North Martin Luther King boulevards on Tuesday ,March 24th 2015

A driver died and a bystander was injured today after a vehicle hit a pole near West Lake Mead and North Martin Luther King boulevards, Metro Police said.

Police received reports about 1:30 p.m. of the crash on J Street, just south of Doolittle Avenue, Officer Laura Meltzer said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

The age and gender of the driver were not immediately available.

A female pedestrian who was hit by debris was taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries, Meltzer said.

Police are investigating the possibility the crash was caused by a medical episode, she said.

The pole fell into the street, and J Street was closed between West Owens and Doolittle avenues for cleanup, Meltzer said.
