5 people were rushed to Tampa General Hospital on Sunday night for injuries suffered in a multi-vehicle crash on Bayshore Boulevard.

The crash happened just before 5:30 p.m. according to Tampa Police, telling ABC Action News that the driver of a silver Acura headed towards downtown Tampa somehow lost control, hit the median, went airborne, and landed on a Mini-Cooper headed in the other direction.

Tampa Police say the Acura then hit a third vehicle head-on.

Sam Raulerson saw the accident while riding a bicycles with his wife, and tells ABC Action News he ran over towards the scene with other witnesses to try to help.

"We tried to get the girl out of the silver Acura because there was gasoline and oil leaking out of the car," Raulerson tells ABC Action News, adding that he was among about a dozen people who ran up to try to pull the drivers from the vehicles that were leaking gasoline and oil.

"It was surprising how many people stopped and came off the sidewalk to help. It was a pretty good testament to human nature," said Raulerson.
