Veedersburg, IN : One dead after an armored truck crashes on U.S. 41 near Veedersburg on Wednesday, March 8, 2017

One person was killed and another critically injured when a gust of wind likely blew the armored truck they were in off of U.S. 41 near Veedersburg, according to Fountain County Sheriff's Office.

The armored truck, which was owned by Brinks, was northbound at 10:18 a.m. Wednesday when the truck left the right side of the road, according to the sheriff's office.

The truck's driver turned the wheel hard to the left, forcing the truck across the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway, deputies said. The truck struck a ditch on the left side of the road, causing it to roll and flip, police said.

Both of the occupants inside the truck were ejected. One person was thrown about 30 feet from the truck, and the other was found next to the truck, which came to rest on its top, police said.

One of the truck's occupants was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment, police said.

Names have not been released yet.

High wind gusts might have contributed to the crash, police said, noting that it remains under investigation.

Brinks arrived at the scene to collect the money from the scene, according to police.
