Leighton, AL : Six injured in Colbert wreck early Friday morning, January 20, 2017
Six people were injured in a two-car accident this morning in Leighton, officials said.
Leighton Police Chief Brandon Hood said the accident happened just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and High School Street.
He said six people — three in each vehicle — were injured and taken to local hospitals.
Emergency personnel at the scene said the injures did not appear to be of a life-threatening nature although one person was trapped inside a vehicle and had to be removed by the Leighton Volunteer Fire Department.
Hood said both vehicles were traveling on Main Street, one going south and one going north.
Reports indicate the accident happened when the vehicle going south was attempting to turn onto High School Street.
The accident remains under investigation by the Leighton Police Department.
