MEDFORD, MA : 1 killed, 1 injured in Taylor County head-on crash on Sunday, 7th October 2018

A man was killed and a woman was injured in a head-on collision Monday in the Taylor County town of Hammel.

According to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol’s northwest region:

A Ford Focus driven by Edwin E. Emstrom, 83, of Medford was westbound on Highway M at Knuth Road near Medford at about 12:23 p.m. Monday when it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound Ford Escape driven by Crystal L. Schaeffer, 37, of Gilman.

Both drivers were transported by Medford Ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital. Emstrom was pronounced dead at the hospital, and Schaeffer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Emstrom and Schaeffer were the only occupants in their respective vehicles.

The crash remains under investigation.
