BROCKTON, MA : Man hospitalized after stolen vehicle causes 3-car crash in Brockton on Thursday,12th April 2018
A hit and run crash involving a stolen car sent one driver to the hospital Thursday afternoon, according to Brockton police and fire officials.
The man was brought to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after the three-car crash around noon at Warren Avenue and Nilsson Street. Initially, the driver refused medical attention, Brockton Deputy Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said.
The driver’s Honda Accord sustained moderate front-end damage in the collision, Nardelli said.
Police believe the stolen vehicle, traveling south on Warren Avenue, attempted to take a left-hand turn onto Nilsson Ave. It then caused two other cars to crash, and then struck one of those vehicles.
The stolen car then fled the scene before police arrived, Capt. Mark Porcaro said.
Police later discovered it unoccupied on Fulton Street. The vehicle was fingerprinted by BCI and towed, Porcaro said.
In the aftermath of the crash, the banged-up car was left leaning on a utility pole as witnesses gave their accounts to a Brockton police officer.
Police had not identified the driver of the stolen car as of Thursday evening, and said there were no arrests or citations yet.
