WALDOBORO, ME : Motorcyclist injured in collision on Sunday, July 2, 2017
A Knox man was LifeFlighted to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor following a crash with a pickup truck just before 10:30 a.m. July 2 in Waldoboro.
According to Waldoboro Police Officer Chris Spear, a 45-year-old Knox man was traveling south on Route 220 on his motorcycle when he collided with a pickup truck hauling a trailer headed west on Old Augusta Road.
The crash occurred in the middle of the intersection, where safety mirrors had recently been placed due to the deceptive nature of the road.
Spear said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The single occupant of the truck, a 29-year-old male from Warren, was not injured in the incident.
The names of those involved have not yet been released.
Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office was on the scene reconstructing the crash, and Spear said a blood test will be conducted on both drivers involved, as per state protocol.
Another cyclist traveling with the crash victim was not involved in the incident.
Waldoboro Fire and EMS responded to the scene, and were assisted in redirecting traffic by Warren, Jefferson, and Washington fire departments.
