Eastern Shore, VA : Nelsonia woman dead after crash on Eastern Shore Wednesday afternoon on August 20, 2014

A 30-year-old woman died in a Wednesday afternoon crash on the Eastern Shore, Virginia State Police said. The accident happened just after 4:45 p.m. in the 10300 block of Temperanceville Road, where a 2001 Hyundai Accent was traveling west. Failing to yield at the intersection with Route 13, the driver of the Hyundai, identified as Catilina Perez Mejia of Nelsonia, drove into the path of a 2001 Dodge Durango going north on Route 13, Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said in a news release. Mejia died at the scene, and three others riding in the car were taken to a hospital in Salsbury, Maryland, Anaya said. The driver of the Dodge Durango, as well as another occupant in the SUV that was carrying five people, suffered minor injuries, Anaya said.
